In Spain the Spaghetti western is still alive
underground: treasures of cinema are hidden in the desert of Almería
Half a century later, fans of this film genre have become
a kind of archaeologist unearthing the treasures of this film genre that are
still buried in the desert of Almeria.
It is the desert of Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli
Wallach; the desert of Sergio Leone, the desert of Almeria. Half a century
after the filming of 'The Good, the Bad and and the Ugly', it is still possible
to recognize the places where the moive was filmed.
They are iconic places where treasures can be found. A
group of fans of the spaghetti western turned into improvised archaeologists
and have unearthed objects from those films.
In 'Duck You Sucker', Leone built a bridge that he then
dynamited in a memorable sequence of the film. From that bridge, today, there
is still left an arch and now also, the remains of a car that has been
discovered buried in the sand.
