Happy 80th Birthday Sieghardt Rupp

Sieghardt Rupp was born on June 14, 1931 in Bregernz, Germany. He attended the Commercial School in Vienna and trained at the Max-Reinhardt-Seminar. In 1954 he made his stage debut in Klagenfurt, Germany. He then appeared in Salzburg in 1956, The State Theatre in Linz in 1958 and the Bad Hersfeld Festival in 1959. He then became very busy when he joined the National Theatre of Vienna in 1959. About this same time1959, he started to appear in films with his debut in "Mädchen für die Mambo-Bar". With his deep voice and good looks he was well suited to play rogues and villains. He appeared in six Euro-westerns including "The Last Ride to Santa Cruz" (1963), "Frontier Hellcat" and "Fistful of Dollars (both 1964), "A Man Called Gringo" (1965), "Blood at Sundown" and "Who Killed Johnny R.?" (both 1966) . Rupp would go on to appear in over 70 films and become a regular on German television. He then returned to the theater in 1985 joining The Theatre in der Josefstadt company and made numerous tours of Germany. Today we celebrate Sieghardt Rupp’s 80th birthday.

  1. Today I was watching the movie Frontier Hellcat and recognized Sieghardt Rupp right off, and a Fisful of Dollars was the only movie I ever saw him in. I then Googled Rupp and was very pleased to learn he was still living. He was always an interesting character to me in FOD.
