with: Natale Nazzareno (Nazzareno Natale), Pedro Baldo, Vicente Hitawas born on May 15, 1886 in Altona, Germany. He was an animal trainer in the Hagenbeck Circus for five years. He carried over his act onto the vaudeville stage where he appeared with a bear and a lion. He then turned to acting and appeared on stage in Cologne in 1911. He came to Berlin in 1920 where he appeared in a small role in his first film. In 1928 he became a regular in films and continued until 1959. He was one of the best character actors in German films for over 30 years. He also worked as a production manager from time to time. After World War II he worked primarily in DEFA films. He appeared in his only Euro-western in 1938 as Bill in "Women for Golden Hill". Gustav died on August 11, 1959 in East Berlin, East Germany. Today we remember Gustav Püttjer on what would have been his 125th birthday.
