Remembering Wolfgang Greese

Wolfgang Greese was a German actor born on March 8, 1926 in Lübz, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. He studied acting from 1947-1948 at State Drama School in Schwerin Lucie Höflich. He then joined a theater groups Schwerin, Zeitz, Altenburg, Meiningen, Stralsund and Rostock. He then began working for the East German television network DFF. His familiar face would appear in overt 200 productions often in supporting roles as crooks, cultured villains and in humorous roles as intellectuals and clerics. He received a best supporting actor award for his performance in 1990 “The Architect” at the East German Film Festival. He married actress Manja Göring [1955- ] in 1987. Greese appeared in two Euro-westerns Osceola (1971) and Tecumseh (1972). Wolfgang died on May 2, 2001 in Berlin, Germany. We remember Wolfgang Greese today on what would have been his 85th birthday.
