Who Are Those Gals? - Elise Aulinger


Elise Aulinger was born on December 11, 1881 in Munich, Germany. She began her acting career at the Munich People's Theatre in 1901. Later she played classic roles in the Munich Chamber Playhouse and in comedies. In 1924 she made history by playing in Germany's first radio play “Die Heilige Nacht” (Holy Night). Elise's first movie was in 1921's "Ein Fest auf Hederlevhuus”. Her first talking film was in 1935's "Ehestreik", followed by her only Euro-western “The Emperor of California” (1936) as Mrs. Dübol. Her last film appearance was in the 1956 film “Die fröhliche Wallfahrt”.

Elise Aulinger was married to the author Max Sommer alias Max Ferner.

Twelve years after her death on February 12, 1965 in Munich, they erected a monument to her in the form of a fountain at the Viktualienmarkt.
